Presentation guidelines

PowerPoint presentations

Please follow the guidelines below:

Presentations must be submitted in advance of the conference through the CMT system by 28/08/2015
Use .pptx, .ptt, or .pdf formats
Name your PowerPoint file with the paper ID and primary author’s last name_First initial, (e.g., 34_Doe_J)
All presentations must run on the Windows operating system. Conference computers will run on Windows 7
Presentation duration should not exceed 20 minutes duration plus 5 minutes for questions
Bring one copy of your presentation to the conference on a USB media storage device. This copy is to be used as a backup by you and the conference organisers if required
Conference organisers will load all presentations on conference computers. Presenters will NOT be allowed to use their own laptop computers
All presenters will be given the opportunity to check their presentations on-site, before their presentation time
If you are unable to submit your presentation by the due date as a result of technical difficulties, special arrangements will need to be made, please contact IWSSIP team.

The presentation has to replicate the paper structure including:

A title slide with the authors names, universities (name & logo), and the title of the paper
Presentation “abstract”
“Introduction” with a description of the problem domain
“State-of-the-art” with an overview of the existing solutions including their limitations and advantages
“Proposed solution” with a description of the prosed methodology and its’ novelty
“Methods” with a description of the design and implementation of the prosed methods
Presented “experimental results” and comparison with other existing solutions
“Discussion” including analysis of the results together with identification of the advantages/limitations of the proposed methods
“Conclusions” with the summary of the performed research
“Future work plan” (with respect to the present stage of your research project)
“References” (references are required for all citations/visual examples).

The presentation also has to include:

Please use visual means of representing information: flowcharts / tables / figures / etc. (do not put too much text on a slide)
Please include more visual (multimedia) examples
Slides should be readable to the unaided eye. You will be speaking in a large room. Text on title slides should be restricted to 7 lines
Use standard fonts for all slides (Arial or Times New Roman). This is to prevent problems with incorrect font/character substitution that occurs when presentations are prepared in fonts not available on the conference computers
Complicated presentations that include audio and video files, animated text, animated figures may not display the same way on the conference computer as on your own computer. If at all possible, review your presentation on the conference computer in the speaker check-in room prior to your talk.

Register upon arrival at the conference
If you were unable to use the advance online submission system and made prior arrangements with the IWSSIP team
Check your presentation in the speaker preview room at least two hours prior to your session
Arrive at your session 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the SESSION (not your presentation). Meet the session organiser. Become familiar with the room and with the operation of the ‘forward’ button for your PowerPoint presentation
Each session room will be equipped with a LCD (data) projector and a PowerPoint compatible computer. A session organiser will open and close your presentation
Contributed paper (and most symposium) presentations are limited to 20 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions
If you left your USB device in the speaker check-in room, please pick them up anytime following your presentation.
